There is the car you buy, and then there is the arrangement that lets you keep using it. Parts, skilled people, records and the occasional thoughtful update all belong to the second purchase, even when nobody puts them on the invoice.

The Z8's long parts promise gives this collection its opening question: what turns a manufacturer's commitment into something an owner can actually obtain? The remanufacturing story follows two factory projects into the less photogenic work of recovering a design and checking its replacement.

Then the choices become visible. A tire can look old without being made exactly as it was decades ago. A radio can add useful functions while respecting the dashboard around it. Neither decision has a universal answer, but both deserve more thought than a contest between originality and novelty.

This is a library about use. Current availability, an individual car's condition and the consequences of a specific modification still need their own evidence. The stories explain the decisions; they are not substitutes for inspecting the car or checking the part.
